Guinness World Records: known from its inception in 1955–2000 as TheGuinness World Record
Guinness Book of Records and in previous U.S. editions as The Guinness Book of World Records, is a reference book published annually, listing world records, both human achievements and the extremes of the natural world. The book itself holds a world record, as the best-selling copyrighted book of all time. It is one of the most frequently stolen books from public libraries in the United States. The international franchise has extended beyond print to include television series and museums. The popularity of the franchise has resulted in Guinness World Records becoming the primary international authority on the cataloguing and verification of a huge number
of world records – the organization employs  official record adjudicators authorised to verify the authenticity of the setting and breaking of records. Defining records: For many records, Guinness World Records is the effective authority on the exact requirements for them and with whom records reside, the company providing adjudicators to events to determine the veracity of record attempts. The list of records which the Guinness World Records covers is not fixed, records may be added and also removed for various reasons. The public are invited to submit applications for records, which can be either the bettering of existing records or substantial achievements which could constitute a new record. The company also provides corporate services for companies to "harness the power of record-breaking to deliver tangible success for their businesses. Source: wiki. Sumo: Sumo is a competitive full-contact
wrestling sport where a  rikishi (wrestler) attempts to force another wrestler out of a circular ring (dohyō) or to touch the ground with anything other than the soles of the feet. The sport originated in Japan, the only country where it is practiced professionally. It is generally considered to be a gendai budō (a modern Japanese martial art), though this definition is misleading as the sport has a history spanning many centuries. Many ancient traditions have been preserved in sumo, and even today
the sport includes many ritual elements, such as the use of salt purification, from the days when sumo was used in the Shinto religion. Life as a wrestler is highly regimented, with rules laid down by the Sumo Association. Most sumo wrestlers are required to live in communal "sumo training stables", known in Japanese as heya, where all aspects of their daily lives—from meals to their manner of dress—are dictated by strict tradition. In recent years, a number of high-profile controversies and scandals have rocked the sumo world, with a concomitant effect on its reputation and ticket sales. It has also greatly affected the sport's ability to attract new recruits.File:Kunisada sumo 1851.jpgOrigins: In addition to its use as a trial of strength in combat, sumo has also been associated with Shinto ritual, and even certain shrines carry out forms of ritual dance where a human is said to wrestle with a kami (a Shinto divine spirit); see Shinto origins of sumo. It was an important ritual at the imperial court. Representatives of each province were ordered to attend the contest at the court and fight. They were required to pay for their travels themselves. The contest was known as sumai no sechie, or "sumai party." Cross-influence from other nations adjacent to Japan,
sharing many cultural traditions, cannot be ruled out, as they also feature styles of traditional wrestling that bear resemblance to sumo. Notable examples include Mongolian wrestling, Chinese Shuai jiao and Korean Ssireum. Over the rest of Japanese recorded history, sumo's popularity has changed according to the whims of its rulers and the need for its use as a training tool in periods of civil strife. The form of wrestling combat probably changed gradually into one where the main aim in victory was to throw one's opponent. The concept of pushing one's opponent out of a defined area came some time later. Winning a sumo bout: The winner of a sumo bout is either (1) The 1st wrestler to force his opponent to step out of the ring  (2) The 1st wrestler to force his opponent to touch the ground with any part of his body other than the bottom of his feet. astauromachia or tauromachy, is a traditional spectacle of SpainPortugalsouthern France and some Hispanic American countries (Mexico,Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru), in which one or more bulls are fought in a bullring. Although a blood sport, by definition, some followers of the spectacle prefer to view it as a 'fine art' and not a sport, as there are no elements of competition in the proceedings. In Portugal, it is illegal to kill a bull in the arena, so it is removed and either professionally killed or treated and released into its owners' (ganadero) fields. The bullfight, as it is practiced today, involves professional toreros (of which the most senior is called a matador) whoFile:Edouard Manet 063.jpg
execute various formal moves which can be interpreted and innovated according to the bullfighter's style or school. It has been alleged that toreros seek to elicit inspiration and art from their work and an emotional connection with the crowd transmitted through the bull. Such maneuvers are performed at close range, after the bull has first been weakened and tired by lances and short spears with barbs which are thrust into and then hang from the bull. The close proximity places the bullfighter at some risk of being gored or trampled by the weakened bull. After the bull has been hooked multiple times behind the shoulder by other matadors in the arena, the bullfight usually concludes with the killing of the bull by a single sword thrust, which is called theestocada. In Portugal, the finale consists of a tradition called the pega, where men (forcados) try to grab and hold the bull by its horns when it runs at them. SupportersDavid Fandila El Fandi.jpg

of bullfighting argue that it is a culturally important tradition and a fully developed art form on par with painting, dancing and music, whereas critics hold that it is a blood sport perpetrated as a cowardly act resulting in the suffering of bulls and horses. There are many historic fighting venues in the Iberian Peninsula, France and Hispanic America. The largest venue of its kind is the Plaza México in central Mexico City, which seats 48,000 people, and the oldest is the La Maestranza in Seville, Spain, which was first used for bullfighting in 1765. Forms of non-lethal bullfighting also
appear outside the Iberian and Francophone world, including the Tamil Nadu practise of jallikattu; and the Portuguese-influenced mchezo wa ngombe (Kiswahili for "sport with bull") is also practiced on the Tanzanianislands of Pemba and Zanzibar. Types of bullfighting which involve bulls fighting other bulls, rather than humans, are found in the Balkans, Turkey, the Persian Gulf, Bangladesh, Japan, Peru and Korea. In many parts of the Western United States, various rodeo events like calf roping and bull riding were influenced by the Spanish bullfighting . Source: Article. La Tomatina:File:Tomatina 2006.jpg
La Tomatina is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, a town located 30 km from the Mediterranean, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in this tomato fight purely for fun. It is held on the last Wednesday of August, during the week of festivities of Buñol. Description: At around 10 a.m., festivities begin with the first event of the Tomatina. It is the "palo jabón", similar to the greasy pole. The goal is to climb a greased pole with a ham on top. As this happens, the crowd works into a frenzy of singing and dancing and gets showered in water from hoses. Once someoneLa Tomatina En Reno 029
is able to drop the ham off the pole, the start signal for the tomato fight is given by firing the water shot in the air and trucks make their entry. The signal for the onset is at about 11 when a loud shot rings out, and the chaos begins. Several trucks throw tomatoes in abundance in the Plaza del Pueblo. The tomatoes come from Extremadura, where they are less expensive and are grown specifically for the holidays, being of inferior taste. For the participants the use of goggles and gloves are recommended. The tomatoes must be crushed before being thrown so as to reduce  theLa Tomatina (25.08.2010) - Spain, Buñol 29
risk of injury. The  estimated number of tomatoes used are around 150,000 i.e. over 40 metric tons. After exactly one hour the fight ends with the firing of the second shot, announcing the end. The whole town square is colored red and rivers of tomato juice flow freely. Fire Trucks hose down the streets and participants use hoses that locals provide to remove the tomato paste from their bodies. Some participants go to the pool of “los peñones” to wash. After the cleaning, the village cobblestone streets are pristine due to the acidity of the tomato disinfecting and thoroughly cleaning the surfaces, Rules of the festival: The city council follows a short list of instructions for the safety of the participants and the festival: (1) The tomatoes have to be squashed before throwing to avoid injuries. (2) No other projectiles except tomatoes are allowed.Participants have to give way to the truck and lorries. (3) The festival doesn't allow ripping off T-shirts. (4) After the second shot indicative of ending the tomato hurl, no tomatoes should be thrown. Courtesy: wikipedia.org. Rio Carnival: TheCarnaval
.
Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro is a world famous festival held before Lent every year and considered the biggest carnival in the world with two million people per day on the streets. The first festivals of Rio date back to 1723. The typical Rio carnival parade is filled with revelers, floats and adornments from numerous samba schools which are located in Rio (more than 200 approximately, divided into 5 leagues/ divisions). A samba school is composed of a collaboration of local neighbours that want to attend carnival together, with some kind of regional, geographical common background. The Top League, called the "Special Group" of Samba schools in 2014 includes: GRES Unidos da Tijuca, Mocidade Independente, GRES Imperatriz Leopoldinense, GRES Uniao da Ilha do Governador, GRES Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, Portela, whose origin remounts to the single first samba group in Rio, GRES São Clemente, the traditional GRES Estação Primeira de Mangueira, founded by Cartola, samba composer and singer and Fluminense Football Club famous fan, GRES Acadêmicos do Grande Rio, located at Duque de Caxias city, GRES Unidos de Vila Isabel, Beija-Flor de Nilópolis, and finally GRES Império da Tijuca, which won the Access Division in 2013 Rio Carnival contest. One of the many main purposes of the Rio carnival parade is forPortela 2012 32
samba schools to compete with their sisters samba-schools; this competition is the climax of the whole carnival festival in this city, related to the samba-schools environment. Each school chooses a theme to try to portray with their entry. The samba schools work to build the best floats, costumes, lyrics, aesthetics, to represent their themes (in Carnival terminology called "enredo"), and to include the best music they can from their drumming band called the bateria. There are many parts to each school's entry including the six to eight floats and up to 4,000 ( four thousand ) revelers per Samba-school of the so-called Special group. There is a special order that every school has to follow with their parade entries. Each school begins with the "comissão de frente" ( literally "Commission of the Front" in English), that is the "wing" or group of people from the school that appear first. Made up of ten to fifteen people, the "comissão de frente" introduces the school and sets the mood and style of their presentation. These people have choreographed dances in fancy costumes that usually tell a short story. Following the "comissão de frente" is the first float of the
samba school, called "abre-alas" ( "Opening Wing" in English ). Some of the important roles include the porta-bandeira and mestre-sala. The porta-bandeira is a very important lady who is in charge of the samba school flag, including making sure to not allow the flag to roll. She is accompanied by the mestre-sala, who is supposed to draw everyone’s attention to "his queen", the porta-bandeira. Floatees, who are also important, are the people who populate the floats, also known as destaques. The floatees have the most luxurious and expensive costumes that can be extremely heavy. Along with all the floatees is one main floatee that is located at the top of each float. The main destaque dances and sings for the entire time that the float is on the runway. One other aspect that is mandatory is the presence of the ala das baianas. This is a wing of the samba school entry that includes at least 100 females only and honours the 'aunts' of the dance. Also important are the glamorous passistas, solo female samba performers dancing between the wings and often stars in their own right (they need considerable stamina for their dancing displays).Source: wikipedia.org"Fail Army" A True Gateway for elite amusements from distinguish

It is the only theme park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. It wasWalt Disney World Magic Kingdom Wishes Fireworks 2015
originally the only attraction on the property; its name was changed to Disneyland Park to distinguish it from the expanding complex in the 1990s. Walt Disney came up with the concept of Disneyland after visiting various amusement parks with his daughters in the 1930s and 1940s. He initially envisioned building a tourist attraction adjacent to his studios in Burbank to entertain fans who wished to visit; however, he soon realized that the proposed site was too small. After hiring a consultant to help him determine an appropriate site for his project, Walt bought a 160-acre (65 ha) site near Anaheim in 1953. Construction began in 1954 and the park was unveiled during a special televised press event on the ABC Television Network on July 17, 1955. Since itsGet Adobe Flash Player
opening, Disneyland has undergone a number of expansions and renovations, including the addition of New Orleans Squarein 1966, Bear Country (now Critter Country) in 1972, and Mickey's Toontown in 1993. Disney California Adventure Park was built on the site of Disneyland's original parking lot and opened in 2001. Disneyland has a larger cumulative attendance than any other theme park in the world, with over 650 million guests since it opened. In 2013, the park hosted approximately 16.2 million guests, making it the third most visited park in the world that calendar year. According to a March 2005 report from the Disney Company, there are 65,700 jobs supported by the Disneyland Resort, which includes, at the Resort itself, 20,000 direct Disney employees and 3,800 third-party employees (that is, independent contractors or their employees). Dedication: To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world. —Walter E. Europe’s grand old theme parks: While most people  assume amusement
.Subscribe
parks are an American invention, their roots are in fact grounded in the Old World. Many of Europe’s best-known theme parks are centuries old, evolving from upper class “pleasure gardens” -- public spaces that included recreational activities in the 18th and 19th century -- to established tenants of local culture. Even Walt Disney travelled to Europe in the 1950s, searching for inspiration for what would become the world-famous Disneyland, his first theme park project in California. The oldest operating theme park in the world, Bakken, opened in 1583, just outside Copenhagen in Bakken, Denmark. In the summer months, crowds would flock to the area to drink from a spring that promised health and vitality. This attracted performers, vendors and hawkers, and eventually a fair was born. Today, the park is filled with modern amusements as well as the Rutschebaren, a wooden friction rollercoaster built in 1932.While Bakken is still popular, better known is Copenhagen’s 169-year-old Tivoli Gardens. In addition to having gut-churning rides -- including one of the world’s oldest rollercoasters, the Bjergbanen, which opened in 1914 -- the park is also surprisingly highbrow, featuring a concert hall and a theatre. The key feature of Tivoli is its manicured gardens, which are illuminated at night by more than 120,000 lamps, swelling to more than two million lights during the winter Christmas markets. The fairytale-like design of the eight hectare gardens were said to have inspired Walt Disney when he designed Disneyland. In the 1950s, Disney also made repeated attempts to purchase the antique penny arcade collection at Barcelona’s Tibidabo amusement park, which opened in 1901. Called the Museum of Automations, the collection of 40 automated figurines collected between 1890 and 1950 are still in pristine working order and considered by some to be priceless. Some automatons are familiar, like the fortune-telling gypsy bearing an eerie resemblance to the one from the Tom Hanks film, Big; some are not very politically correct, like the automaton from the turn of the century that raises the French flag as a man is guillotined; and others in the ballroom-turned-museum are simply spectacular. With a push of a button, a curtain pulls back to reveal a stage filled with life-size dancers and musicians performing a jig. Tibidabo perches in the mountains overlooking Barcelona and is accessed by a rickety, 100-year-old funicular. While the park has added newer amusements, most visitors come for the vintage attractions, including a two-tier carousel built in 1921, the Talaia, which raises guests with a rickety metal arm to a height of 550m above sea level, and the iconic Avio ride, modelled on the first plane to fly between Barcelona and Madrid. Opened in 1928, the plane simply rotates in a circle powered only by its noisy propeller. Sitting inside the wood-panelled, red leather interior, the ride offers amazing views of the city and the sensation of being on an airplane -- an incredible thrill in the 1920s. By today’s standards, Avio is fairly tame, but the simplicity of it is charming. Some of Europe’s lesser-known parks include the Efteling in south Holland, Recently the Netherlands visitor and conventions bureau named Efteling the most popular day out in Holland, beating the country’s famousVan Gogh museum by three million visitors. Developed in the 1950s around the theme of European fairytales, it so well loved in the community that some staff continue to volunteer there after they retire. The key feature of the park is the 15-acre fairytale forest filled with electronically animated scenes from Grimm’s Fairy Tales, such as Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White, along with Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Match Girl and The Little Mermaid. The Europeans were also responsible for the establishment of many modern-day amusement park staples. The carousel, for example, evolved from machines designed to help princes learn to ride ponies in the 17th and 18th Centuries. The world’s oldest Ferris wheel, the Riesenrad, is located in Vienna’sPrater Park. The 212ft structure has been synonymous with the city since it was erected for Emperor Franz Jospeh’s Golden Jubilee in 1897 on the old Imperial hunting grounds. The wooden, wagon-shaped gondolas rotate on a large steel frame offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding fairground; the interiors are covered in graffiti left by lovers and rebels over the decades. Prater Park’s amusements also include a toboggan slide from the 1950s and the Praterturm, the world’s highest carousel swing ride, twirling guests 117m in the air. But the use of live ponies in a merry-go-round-style carousel, a traditional ride from the beginning of the 20th Century, is one of the less charming historical features, drawing criticism from those who see using live animals as out-dated and cruel. However, what remains most significant about these parks is that they exist at all. Most of Europe’s amusement parks survived extreme circumstances: the Prater Ferris wheel was slated to be demolished but the city ran out of funds to level it; Tibidabo survived both the Spanish Civil War (1936 to 1939) and bankruptcy. The 20th Century was not kind to Europe. The Great Depression and two World Wars shook the continent to its core, and rapid industrialisation and urbanisation saw the need for space in cities at a premium. The survival of these antique, vintage and old-school parks is evidence of a society’s need to preserve a sense of fun and also the public’s nostalgia for a simpler age (BBC) Source; SAM Daily TimesNew York’s Coney Island takes another wild ride into new era: Change has come again to NewConey Island, New York
York City’s Coney Island seaside resort, famous since the mid-19th century for its carnival atmosphere, sandy beaches and amusement parks. After decades of decay, the neighborhood in Brooklyn has been spruced up with new rides, restaurants and refurbished theme parks still called Dreamland and Luna Park in keeping with its rich history. Long a summer haven on the Atlantic Ocean for blue-collar families, Coney Island now also attracts foreign tourists and affluent so-called hipster Millennials who have moved to Brooklyn borough in droves. “Since the beginning of Coney Island, it was always a place of anarchy,” said Amy Nicholson, maker of the documentary film “Zipper: Coney Island’s Last Wild Ride” on changes in recent years, especially under former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a proponent of high-end development. “It was always a place for outsiders. It was always a place for people of lower income, or very little means, to go and let off steam,” Nicholson said. Home to landmarks including the 150-foot-tall (46-meter-tall) Wonder Wheel, the 87-year-old Cyclone wooden roller coaster, Nathan’s Famous hot dog stand and a boardwalk peppered with kitschy shops and sideshows, many small businesses and family-owned theme parks have been pushed out in the past five years. Aging boardwalk staples including the Astroland amusement park, Shoot the Freak and the Zipper ride that turned visitors upside-down have been replaced by larger, state-of-the art rides. One famous ride, the Thunderbolt, is returning this summer after operating from the 1920s to the 1980s. This time it will be made of steel, not wood. Coney Island, a four-mile-long (6.4-km-long) peninsula in south western Brooklyn, is one of New York City’s most visually distinct neighbourhoods. Controversy has often surrounded development and changes by various property owners at Coney Island since the 1840s, when the first structures were built. Now, city officials want to transform Coney Island in the way Times Square in Manhattan was revamped in the 1990s, when peep shows and prostitutes were pushed out to make way for tourist-friendly restaurants and theaters. The drive to revamp was accelerated by Superstorm Sandy in October 2012, which washed out the boardwalk, temporarily shut the New York Aquarium and flooded businesses and homes. TRANSFORMATION UNDERWAY: A major developer, Thor Equities, has snatched up stretches of beachside property with plans for new shops, restaurants, condos, hotels and other year-round entertainment. The new development has brought more visitors, with 3 million people arriving by subway from May through September 2013, two-and-a-half times as many visitors as decade ago, the New York Economic Development Corporation said. The new attractions are drawing tourists from far afield. Vera Sveinsson, from Iceland, recently headed out to Coney Island for a day during a week-long trip to New York. “I had seen Coney Island in movies and music videos but was told it was dangerous,” Sveinsson said. “When we got here people said it’s fun and to go, and we love it.” Artist Dick Zigun, known as the “unofficial” mayor of Coney Island and founder of the Mermaid Parade that kicks off the summer season, said the new visitors reflect changes seen across Brooklyn, New York City’s most populated borough. “It’s the transformation of Brooklyn itself over the past few years to a vibrant middle class,” Zigun said. “It’s those families that are now coming to Coney Island, together with the hipsters, together with the tourists, in bigger numbers now.” Not all the neighborhood’s old bones are lost: A tower for the long-shuttered parachute jump ride remains as a design element in the minor-league stadium that the Brooklyn Cyclones baseball team calls home. Some fans of the neighborhood remain wistful for the old days. “It’s not that we want it to be ratty and dirty. But you want it to be free and open and not corporate,” documentary filmmaker Nicholson said. “There is this underlying carnival culture that is now gone.” Source: The Indian ExpressMoscow's Gorky Park one of world's most visited places: The most visited place in Brazil is Sao Paulo’s Ibiratuera Park, in Italy,

Shah Rukh says he didn't imagine staying in films so long: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan today said he never imagined that he would be able to survive in the film industry for such a long time - a good 21 years - and ascribed his long innings to greater opportunities available in the country now. "Because our country is progressing so fast, a lot of people like me, who perhaps don't even deserve it, get a lot more opportunities than what actors and stars got in years past," the star, who just received the prestigious Chubb fellowship by the Yale University in the US, said. He was speaking at the inauguration of the first phase of Prayag Film City here in West Midnapore district as the brand ambassador of the film city.  "I come from a lower middle class background and for the last 30 years it has been my habit to work for 18-20 hours a day. Through my hard work I try to make the life of my family better," he said. Asked if he was drifting towards entrepreneurship from acting, SRK said he considers himself just as an actor. "I am hardly an entrepreneur. I don't even think of myself as a star. I only try to make a difference in the world with my acting," he said. Describing acting and sports as two of his passions, he said, "Whatever I do, promotions and other things, they are offshoots and ancilliaries". Emphasising the importance of a film city, he said he had always wondered why a country like India which makes the largest number of films worldwide, does not have world-class infrastructure and facilities. "The biggest dream of my life has always been to try and make an international class studio for this country, not for profit, but for the fact that India makes the maximum number of films that are seen around the world," he said. He said the Prayag Film City is going to be a "wonder of the world". He went on to say that hopefully next year he can come and shoot one of his films in the film city. "If it were ready, I would shoot here the new film that I am going to begin," he said, describing West Bengal as the most creative area "the country has historically" in terms of literature, poetry, theatre, music and sports. The Prayag Film City, promoted by the Prayag Group, is a state-of-the-art integrated film city which will also house an amusement park. It will be thrown open to filmmakers and tourists later this year. Planned as a one-stop destination for filmmakers, Prayag Film City is spread over a sprawling campus of 2,700 acres at Chandrakona, 165 km away from Kolkata. It has sound-proof studio floors for outdoor shooting locations, a helipad, railway station with bogies, golf course, swimming pool, water bodies, tree-house, restaurants, cottages, manicured parks and other facilities. Source: Screen IndiaImage, Shah Rukh Khan takes a dig at Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ poster : This week sawShah Rukh Khan commented on Aamir Khan's 'PK' poster.

two major events happening, and coincidentally, both belonged to two of Bollywood’s reigning Khans. While on one hand, Aamir Khan stunned the world with the ‘first look’ of his upcoming film ‘PK’, in which he has posed almost nude with only a tape record to cover his essentials, on the other hand, there was Shah Rukh Khan’s announcement about his association with ‘Got Talent World Stage Live’. During the latter event, when the host Mini Mathur asked Shah Rukh Khan if he wanted to show his hidden talent under his belt which was not known to the people yet and he wanted to show the world, Shah Rukh Khan, in his trademark style of humor replied, “Now it’s getting vulgar…show the world what you have under the belt (laughs)… muje aisa laga PK poster ki baat kar rahe hai hum.” During the Q and A round with the media, when a reporter asked Shah Rukh Khan if he has seen Aamir Khan’s talent by shedding his clothes on PK’s poster, Shah Rukh Khan said, “Idhar talent bola theek hai but isse talent mat bolna.” As they say, you just Khan’t beat a Khan, especially when it’s Shah Rukh Khan! Source: The Indian Express. Today’s generation of talent is a revelation to me: Amitabh Bachchan: Amitabh Bachchan speaksAmitabh Bachchan.jpg

How was that experience? I see his program often and have enjoyed his show immensely. When asked to promote our film on his show, I did feel it would be a daunting task, but the comfort level that he extends to all his guests along with his team calms apprehensive nerves. I have enjoyed myself thoroughly being on ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, as I am sure many others have too. He has a great sense of humor

and repartee in his own inimitable style. I can only wish him the very best. Had not laughed so much in a long time, as I did on his show. Another film Bhoothnath Returns is on release. They are unpredictable and spontaneous, completely innovative and a joy to be with. Parth, who plays the little boy in Bhoothnath Returns (BR), is a commensurate performer, a mature artist and the hero of the film. Even seasoned professionals sometimes are unable to convincingly go through the gamut of emotions that this boy has in ‘BR’. He is an exceptional young man. What was Parth Bhalerao like to work with? child co-star from an adult co-star? As I just said, his performance does not look like that of a child. He performs as an adult, mature and confident and full of self-belief, completely uninhibited, a rare quality! Your association with Mr B R Chopra’s banner goes back to Zameer? Ravi has been unwell for several years now and bed-ridden. It has been painful to see him in such condition. Not for me or for the film or for any other, I hope that the film does well. It would give him some respite. How do you manage to keep the faith alive for so many decades? I think ‘manage’ is a rather harsh word when we talk of relationships. In creative processes what matters is the value of the content, and of course the confidence that each party has on the abilityBigB N JayaB

so. Do you feel 2014 is an exciting year for Hindi cinema specially women-oriented films. Women oriented films have been our pride for long. Nargisji, Nutanji, Meena Kumariji through the years and Hemaji, Jaya and many more have been associated with women oriented films. Why, the last couple of years itself saw Vidya Balanin a few and some films made and directed by women. Women have always been an integral part of cinema in India and shall continue to be so. Each year is an exciting year, why just 2014? And may it  continue to flourish as it has now, for over a 100 years! You jammed with YoYo Honey Singh for a song in Bhoothnath Returns. tell me about the experience. Honey Singh is a super talent. He’s a musician, singer, lyric writer and a performer. I heard of him from my grandchildren and loved his music. When Bhushan Kumarji suggested a song in the film from him I was thrilled. The younger generation loves him and his music. I hope they enjoy this number in BR too. Besides Piku which are the other film projects that you’ve agreed to take on? I start R. Balki’s film this month and shall go on with that for a couple along with Shoojit’s Piku. There is simultaneously work being concluded on the TV serial that I am doing with Endemol, Anurag Kashyap and his team for Sony. That shall be followed by KBC and by the end of the year there will be Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s production with Farhan, being directed by Bejoy Nambiar. Sudhir Mishra’s Mehrunissa and a few others are also on, and shall take shape early next year. Source: IArticleLata Mangeshkar reveals her plans of singing with Amitabh

Lata Mangeshkar talks about her plans for her music label LM Music...
Bachchan: Congratulations, you've launched your own record label L M Music. What are your plans for your music company? I believe you will now be singing with Mr. Amitabh BachchanYes! I want to sing with Amitji for sure. We had come together for a duet 'Yeh Kahan Aa Gye Hum' in Yash Chopraji's film Silsila many years ago. But we didn't record it together. I had sung my portion. And later Amitji had recited Javed Saab's poetry. What would you be recording with Mr. Bachchan? I believe he is keen to do shlokas of Lord Tirupati with me. I'd love to do this project with him. I've spoken to him about it already. He has also been kind enough to give the voiceover for an album of devotional songs by Suresh Wadkar released on our label. Suresh had recorded the Kabir Bhajans many years ago but never released the album. When I heard them I thought they just needed some brushing up. That's where Bachchan Saab's commentary came in. What are the other albums to be released on the L M Music Label? We've already released several spiritual albums, and a children's album by my sister Meena. In that album Meena's granddaughter has also sung. In fact during the music-label launch function on January 15, Meena's granddaughter kept rushing to the stage to repeatedly touch Amitabh Bachchanji's feet (laughs). I've also released an album of Bhakti geet 'Har Har Mahadev' with Shankar Mahadevan accompanying me. Then there is an album of Buddha chants entitled Buddham Sharman Gachchami featuring 11 artistes including Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Pankaj Udhas, Anoop Jalota, my sister Asha and me. This is the first time I've sung in Pali. We also have classical vocalist Jeetendra Abhishek's son Shounak singing Bhau Geet for the first time. Shounak's sister who is my sister Meena's daughter-in-law has also sung in that album. The label launch function was attended by the likes of Mr. Bachchan, Neeta Ambani, Sridevi and Boney... Yes, a lot of distinguished people from the film industry showed up for the function. I am fortunate to have so many lovely people's best wishes. Whoever we invited showed up for the function. I am blessed. It was a quiet evening. Four of us Bachchan Saab, Neeta Ambaniji, Pandit Jasraj and I were on stage. Neetaji and Amitji are so busy yet they came to my function for their love of me. Pandit Jasraj is not well and yet he came. Jasrajji released the album. What has the feedback to your label been so far? The feedback to my music label has been heartening. I completed 70 years of singing in 2012. I am deeply indebted to the people of India for liking my voice for so many years. What would I have been if it wasn't for the love of the people? It's my duty to give something back to the music industry now. What are your future plans for the label? We've lots of plans. Usha Mangeshkar is ready to record an album of Garba songs. I also want to record Ghazals. I also want to record poems of Bachchan's Saab's father Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan, selected by Amitji. We're only starting out. Any plans for upcoming singers? But my ardent wish is to create a platform for these children who are seen on reality shows after which they vanish from the music scene. They are known only as long as the show lasts. We want to create our own music show where winners from these shows get a second chance. Those selected from our show can go on to record songs on our label. I feel their talent and hard work are getting lost. Source: Hindustan TimesUN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon loves Psy's GangnamPsy performing Gangnam Style at the Future Music Festival 2013

Aamir Khan’s nude poster for his upcoming film ‘PK’ invited shock, amusement and even a case, but online buzz suggests it is inspired by a Portuguese musician’s cover art in 1973. The old poster, which the musician Quim Barreiros apparently used for his album promotions, shows a man posing nude holding an accordion to hide his modesty, bearing resemblance to the ‘PK’ teaser where Aamir is seen naked with a tape-recorder. The film’s poster evoked all kind of reaction including a case against the 49-year-old star for propagating obscenity. But this is not the first time that the poster of an Aamir’s film has been called a copycat. His last superhit action venture Dhoom 3’s poster was said to be inspired from Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’. The popular first look of ‘Dhoom 3′, which saw Aamir looking out of a large window, seemed similar to Nolan’s movie, where Christian Bale’s Batman was seen striking the same pose. The poster of movies like ‘Ra.One’, ‘Ram Leela’ and ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ were noted for their resemblance to Hollywood posters. Source: The Indian ExpressConfidence is the key to beauty: Emma Stone: Actress EmmaEmma Stone 2014.jpg
Stone says that the key to look beautiful is believing in yourself and being confident about your body. The 22-year-old,who plays a writer in the upcoming movie ‘The Help’,insists she is comfortable about her body and so is able to carry it well, reported People magazine. “Confidence is the only key. I know a lot of people who aren’t traditionally beautiful not symmetrical or perfect-bodied or perfect-skinned. But none of that matters because all that shines through is their confidence, humor and comfort with themselves. I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself,” said Stone. The actress says he role Eugenia ‘Skeeter’ Phelan in the movie ‘The Help’ gave her a new perspective on the importance of inner beauty. “I think at the beginning, understandably, she is deeply affected by her appearance and her mother’s disapproval of it. But she was lucky enough to have (her maid) Constantine, who reminded her that she was beautiful and smart and could choose her life,” she added. Source: ArticleI am giving Brad Pitt, Tom
Cruise, all these guys a chance in Hollywood: Salman Khan: Have you ever wondered why Salman Khan has never opted for Hollywood? Well, the actor himself has revealed the reason. Just for a brush up, in the year 2004, Salman Khan was named the seventh-best-looking man in the world and the best looking man in India by US’s People magazine. So why didn’t Sallu think about Hollywood? Putting on his funny shoes, the actor said, “All my friends who have gone to America, they don’t even want to come back for a holiday, wonder why. I am an actor, those guys were the ‘sensible’ ones, educated – engineers, doctors, scientists. These guys went there and made a lot of money, respect,” he said. “Me, I am giving Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, all these guys a chance. Otherwise…poor guys,” the 46-year-old added. Salman Khan was at an event organized by Indo-American Chamber Of Commerce (IACC) on Wednesday. Targeting Hollywood films, Salman said, “Amazing movies, they make anything look good. Like for example the names I took, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise. We just go on emotions and heart. We overdo anything, I mean guys like us also look really bad,” said Salman. He concluded his response with his arch-rival’s dialogue from “My Name Is Khan”: “I mean my name is actually Khan and I actually am not a terrorist.” Source: Article. Salman Khan enjoys rides at India’s first

Last week, Salman went there and enjoyed some fun rides besides posing for the photos. The star was casually dressed in ‘Being Human’ tee and tracks. He also posed standing in front of ‘Mr. India’ ride. The ride is inspired from the 1980’s superhit film starring Anil Kapoor as Mr. India and Sridevi as a reporter. Salman Khan took to twitter to express his joy after visiting the theme park. “This place Imagica is out of this world. Went there last nite, it opens on the 18th, think kal hai ya parson, it is something else. Must go..” tweeted Sallu. He later added, “I have had a blast there. So much of fun, the rides are superb. Mannee ... Outstanding, they have the best ride in the world in India now.” The star was not alone at the amusement park; he was accompanied by Ashmit Patel. Salman Khan was also spotted having a candid chat with Manmohan Shetty of Adlabs. The humor is not refreshingly original as it resorts to punchlines on booze, sex, poop, and other such elements of American amusement. By Siddhi Pathak: Don’t be fooled by the suffix, ‘with better lives’. Friends With Better Lives is a shadow of the popular 90’s show, Friends, if not, it’s precise replica. In its essence, it’s a sitcom based on the lives of six 30-something individuals, all of whom feel that the others have got it better. Bobby (Kevin Connolly) and Andi (Majandra Delfino) are the quintessential American, Homeland worshiping, married couple now ‘in a rut’. Will (James Van Der Beek) is a man going through divorce, overstaying his welcome at Bobby’s house. Kate (Zoe Lister-Jones) is a sassy, ambitious, sarcastic woman, failing to get herself a decent date. Jules (Brooklyn Decker), is a bubbly, impulsive woman who falls in love with Lowell (Rick Donald), an Aussie Buddhist who owns a natural restaurant. That the show premiered on March 31, only after the most popular sitcom of the time, How I Met Your Mother, breathed its last, doesn’t seem coincidental. Created by Dana Klein, the writer of the original show, Friends, it shows how these six characters are stuck with each other (and how we are stuck with them for half an hour). The humor is not refreshingly original as it resorts to punchlines on booze, sex, poop, and other such elements of American amusement. The characters although different from each other, feel uniform in their setting. The storyline of two couples is very contrary, adding a little something for everyone. While Bobby and Andi are trying to accept the fact their marriage has fallen in a rut, Lowell and Jules are a newly fallen in love couple, giving the show its much required spice. Kate’s sarcastic remarks and Will’s pranks are either a hit or a miss, much like the entire show itself. Very evidently, the show is a desperate attempt, or at least looks like one, to achieve the glory and fame of the the original show Friends. The good part about that is that you’re assured a laugh or two at any point, without having to religiously follow the show. Verdict: It will tickle some remote funny bone of yours but stay away from it if you’re seeking originality.  Source: Article‘When I sleep,my fingers tap a rhythm. Behind the sound, there is God’: Pandit Birju Maharaj, aBirju Maharaj
leading exponent of the Lucknow Kalka-Bindadin gharana of Kathak dance, is a teacher, choreographer, vocalist, composer, poet and plays a number of drums. What does spirituality mean to you? Every time I am about to perform, when I prepare myself in the green room,I tell God: “please come into me and use me,use my hands, feet, expressions – use it all like a conduit so that people may get a glimpse of you,may see a sparkle of you”. My gurus (my father and two uncles) used to tell me I should believe in God. And I actually would recommend anyone learning classical music or dance to believe in God. Because you can learn all the techniques from the Guru, but only you can open yourself up to be a conduit for God. Who is God,what is God ? It is not a statue or something of the sort; it is an energy, the supreme power. There is a cosmic beat,a cosmic rhythm. It is the same as the beat of the heart’s rhythm. Great gurus took that beat and translated it into music and dance so that people could feel God,so that they could connect to it. Do you feel God outside of the stage ? No matter what I do – I may be talking to you or running errands – in my mind,I am actually always connected to music and to the rhythm. Even when I sleep,my fingers move and tap the rhythm. And behind the sound,God is there. Like a sadhu constantly meditating,I am always involved with music and therefore my mind is actually always engaged with God. You never doubted God – even in difficult times like when losing your father at the age of nine? I actually believe things are written and happen as meant to. My father married two women who died. My mother was his third wife. One day someone came on stage to tell him a son of his had died. He continued to play, undisturbed, and later simply said that God had decided to take the child. My mother was quite surprised – “don’t you have any feelings?” Similarly,my wife always complained. I was so involved with dance and teaching that I never paid enough attention to her needs or to the needs of the family. I can say I was neither a goodPandit Birju Maharaj
husband nor a good family man. I never went to the movies for instance,or to the hill stations for some vacation. I only went if there was some artistic program happening. My life has always been about being a good artist, and not about other dimensions. If someone were to ask me whom do I love,I would say I love my dance and my work above everything else. People, family and so on only come after. As far as problems are concerned,I would say problems always come in life. If there weren’t problems,we could never appreciate the good times. After the night comes the day. It is normal to face problems and challenges. For you, everything is preordained or prewritten in life? It is. But of course we have to work very hard at what we do. If we believe in God and in the guru, and practice hard, then some success will come,no matter what. It may take time, but it will come. What is success? If I have a good performance, then I can smile for a month. I carry on and can face any kind of problem, thanks to the happiness coming from the appreciation people give me. When I grew up,we had almost nothing. There was no television,no car, nothing. I had to struggle. And I think struggle is important in life to build you,to strengthen you. I look at my son or at my uncle’s two sons, who also dance. They grew up with much more comfort so they are good, they are trying their best and slowly they are learning, with time. But it is different because they didn’t have to struggle as much. And also, when there is a big tree,I guess it is difficult for other trees to grow under it. Everybody is looking at the big tree and not at the smaller ones. Becoming an exceptional artist – is it about learning or is one born with it? I believe that the more you practice, and the more you believe in the guru, the more it comes. Look at someone like
Shashwati Sen – she is not a relative, but she has been for 42 years with me,and even when I teach a class of young children she stands there humbly, learning. There is always something new to learn. Do you still learn every day? Hopefully I do,and those new elements combine like in churning waters, out of which one never knows what will come out. You keep assimilating things and you do not know what will come out of it. The divine energy is timeless yet the body is not,and it is your tool – how do you deal with aging? The power of imagination is the most important thing. When entering the stage, the feeling of being young Krishna with his flute inhabits me fully; I then feel so young, and there is no question of age. We all have regrets, insecurities, fears – what are they for you? Say you ask a saint sitting next to a river, for him there is no complaint, everything that comes is good. I am trying to be that way. Look at my house, quite modest looking. And I answer every phone coming even though people around me say ‘you are Maharaji you shouldn’t’. I do not care about those things. The playfulness and sense of humor seem to be very important for you – life is like a cosmic play or a cosmic joke? Absolutely. And I want to be happy in it and make others happy thanks to my dance. If there were one question you could ask God,what would it be? Every morning I do seva to Krishna,I pray to him and ask him – “please be with me,please come into my dreams, and show me the dance nicely so that I can catch it”. Also,I ask him to make sure my mood is pleasant throughout the day,no matter what comes my way. If there were such a thing as rebirth, what would you choose for the next round? I would want to be the same – the name can change, but I want to do more work for kathak,as much as I can. This is a spiritual way of being. What is your idea of happiness? When something good happens thanks to my work. What do you mean something good? Constantly things happen in life – children are born, you make some money, you may buy a new car. This is all routine. I am talking about something coming out of hard work – imaginative or creative, something having an impact on people. Then I can be happy. For a long time,I was craving the clapping of the audience,I was vying for that kind of appreciation and recognition. But inside I was not satisfied. About 25 or 30 years ago things started to change, and I understood that people could go like into a trance as I’d dance. I could take them to some other reality and dimension. I know when it happens. And that is what matters to me more than anything else. Do you feel at peace inside? As long as I dance and hear music,I can feel at peace. Source: ArticleI don’t work for money: Asin,Asin at the South Indian International Movie Awards, 2013

But I would never have thought it would go 10 years,” Tibbitt said.Source: The Indian ExpressDelhi delight: It’s a boy takes girl out, situationTiger Shroff shows Kriti Sanon how to have a blast
where Babloo (Tiger Shroff) takes his beau Dimpy (Kriti Sanon) who comes from a conservative family, out as he wants her to enjoy the night life in Delhi. To showcase their excitement and enjoyment, director Sabbir Khan decided not to have choreographed moves for the song Aa raat bhar but asked the actors to follow their instincts and move about as they would if they were enjoying themselves on an outing. Since the film is based in the North, a set resembling Delhi locations was constructed at Karjat near Mumbai. “I wanted to keep their moves as realistic as possible and that’s how Tiger and Kriti were briefed. In fact, the track was recorded about six to seven months back and we used to play it often after shootings and between breaks and the actors and my team were very familiar with it. So when we were shooting it, everyone including the assistant directors and costume designers jumped into the frame and became part of the background. There was a lot of fun and laughter on the sets during the three days we canned the song,” said Khan. club: Deccan Chronicle, You may have dropped the perfect lines, flaunted the most impressive resume and prepared to forgive a friend. Yet the one thing that clinches the deal every single time is a genuine smile. No, not the socialite one that precedes the air-kiss or the menacing one like Joker’s (in The Dark Knight). For a moment, drop the façade and let the lips give you an emotional facelift. The X-Factor tells you how flashing your pearly whites, is a good way to winning hearts and keeping you healthy too. Benefits: (1) Mood: The next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. Even if you don’t want to grin, repeatedly doing so eventually makes you believe, there’s actually a reason to smile. Smiling can trick the body into helping you change your mood. (2) Health: When you smile, immune function improves possibly because you are more relaxed. This helps prevent flu and the common cold. When you smile,a beautiful smile...
there is a measurable reduction in your blood pressure. Studies have shown that smiling releases endorphins, natural painkillers, and serotonin. Together these three make us feel good. Smiling helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down, and overwhelmed.(3) Confidence: We don’t need an expert to validate this, though we do need to be reminded from time to time — we are always drawn to people who smile. Job seekers give the air of confidence when they project the right smile while date hunters often fall hook, line and sinker for a prospective partner, just because of a smile. It’s also infectious. You smile at someone and they are mostly like going to smile right back.Youth recall: The muscles we use to smile lift the face, making a person appear younger. Try smiling your way through the day — you’ll look younger and feel better. (1) Eyes: Resistance exercises can reduce crow’s feet, the lines near the outer corner of the eyes. When the skin around the eyes is more toned and firm, existing lines become less prominent and the skin is less prone to developing new lines. Try smiling into a mirror, placing your index fingers near the outer corner of your eyes, and pressing gently upward, to lift the cheek. Hold for six seconds, then release. (3) Cheeks: Tone your cheek muscles while acting silly to stay motivated to maintain the workout, suggests Womens-Health-and-Fitness.com. Grin a huge smile while keeping your lips closed, making sure the edges of your mouth turn upwards. Try to touch your ears with the corners of your mouth. Wrinkle your nose to feel your cheek muscles engage. Hold for five seconds, then let your face relax. Repeat the exercise 10 times. How to identify: There is no doubt that the world is turning into a scarier place with rapists, murderers and maniacs galore, so it’s possibly understandable why people are reluctant to take a smile at face value. On the other hand you have fashionistas and socialites giving a smile a bad name with their fake ones. Yet, a genuine grin is a connection that can be made instantly…one which you will recognise instantly too. (1) The Duchenne Smile: French physician Guillaume Duchenne paid particular attention to an anatomical distinction of the smile. While conducting research on the physiology of facial expressions in the mid-19th century, Duchenne identified two distinct types of smiles. A Duchenne smile involves contraction of both the zygomatic major muscle (which raises the corners of the mouth) and the orbicularis oculi muscle (which raises the cheeks and forms crow’s feet around the eyes). Duchenne smiles are known as authentic smiles because they consistently co-occur with positive emotions. Duchenne smiles are marked by wrinkles in the eyes that resemble crows feet and are associated with feeling excitement, amusement, interest, happiness and joy. (2) The Pan-Am smile :  The Pan-Am smile, also known as the “Botox smile”, is the name given to a “fake smile”, in which only the zygomatic major muscle is voluntarily contracted to show politeness. It is named after the airline Pan American World Airways, whose flight attendants would always flash every jet-setter the same, perfunctory smile. A non-Duchenne smile involves only the zygomatic major muscle. Supreme quote:  As long as you smile, have sparkly eyes and stick your shoulders back, nobody's going to notice your bum or your waist or your feet, for that matter –– Cat Deeley. Source: Deccan Chronicle
